You might be wondering…what can you expect to get out of this blog? Well, as I mentioned, the book “In Defense of Food” had a very big impact on me. But, I must admit that when I first finished the book I wasn’t quite sure how to implement the groundbreaking information I had just learned. After all, I had never even purchased a single “organic” piece of produce prior to 2010. It might also be a good time for me to mention that during my childhood Doritos and Kraft macaroni and cheese were both staples in my diet. So thinking about how I would dramatically change something as innate as what and how we eat started to keep me up at night.
Only after a great deal of additional research did I finally figure out how to at least get my family started with this new way of life. All four of us slowly began to develop new routines and revamped our expectations when it came to food shopping and eating. I am not going to lie and say it was easy to rethink something we have done on autopilot for so many years, but after getting through the initial bumps in the road it was well worth it.
So on this blog you can expect to find a few updates a week talking about what I have learned (to save you all the leg work!) and how we have personally applied this food-related wisdom to our lives. The goal is for you to be so convinced that you start to make changes in your life as well – if I can do it then you can too! I also plan to post recipes and hope to hear from other experienced whole food eaters who might share their own tips and thoughts as well.
Next up will be some surprising things about wheat and bread – so be on the lookout!
