I recently learned that fresh local peaches can easily be transformed into a delicious frozen treat. I used my ice cream maker to make this recipe, and it gave me yet another reason to be thrilled that I bought one just a few months ago. I seriously doubt I will ever buy ice cream (or sorbet) out of a box again. The machine is incredibly easy to use. You literally just flip a switch and 15 to 20 minutes later…voila! Not to mention that you can control exactly what ingredients go into each recipe.
Homemade Peach Sorbet
- 4 peaches
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
- 3 tablespoons water
Slice the peaches and remove pits. There is no need to remove the peel. In a blender puree the peach slices, maple syrup (or honey), and water. Pour the mixture into frozen ice cream maker bowl and follow manufacturer instructions (in my case that meant letting it run for 15-20 minutes). Enjoy!

I can’t believe how creamy this looks! I have an abundance of peaches at home right now. I know what I’m making tonight! 🙂
What brand ice cream maker do you have? Or is there one you’d recommend? I love ice cream, and it would be great to make my own and control the amount of sugar/chemicals in it. This looks delicious!
Ooops! Nevermind. I see you’ve included a link. Thanks!
I recently bought the ice cream maker you recommended. My kids eat every kind of ice cream-frozen yogurt-sorbet, etc. Do you have a website you would recommend that has recipes that are healthy? Thanks.
You know I just started with the book that came with the ice cream maker (for ideas) and made my own healthy substitutions. I can tell you that no one needs the amount of sugar they recommended so back when we were eating white sugar I only put in about half of what they said. Now I substitute that for maple syrup or honey of course (and also put a little less cream and more milk). We have tried different fruits and unsweetened cocoa and all I have to say is that it is pretty hard to make an ice cream that doesn’t taste good! So to answer your question I haven’t seen a site that specifically has recipes, but would recommend experimenting with some stuff on your own! Let me know if you end up with any winning combination that you want to share 🙂
